A sporty summer release – July 3, 2006

While Kawasaki’s “Summer Release” model line-up includes three new ATVs, arguably the most anticipated four-wheeled product to come from the Irvine, Calif.-based supplier in 2007 is the KFX450 sport quad.
Kawasaki recently sent out a single-page press release touting six features about the KFX450. It will have an all-new engine with electronic fuel injection and electric start, aggressive styling, an aluminum chassis and reverse.
“Additional information will follow as we get closer to officially announcing this model later this year,” said Russ Brenan, Kawasaki media supervisor.
The three new units revealed in the “Summer Release” program are the KFX50 (MSRP $1,749), KFX90 ($2,149) and Brute Force 750 4x4i NRA OUTDOORS Special Edition ($8,349).
The 2006 KFX50, KFX80 and KFX400 all were sourced from Suzuki. While there is no news yet regarding the fate of the KFX400 for 2007, Kawasaki plans to bring back a revamped KFX50 and an all-new KFX90 in place of the 80.
Designed for riders age 6 and older, the KFX50 runs off of a 49.5cc four-stroke, air-cooled engine. The KFX90 is designed for riders 12 years and older and features an 89cc air-cooled, overhead-cam powerplant.
To aid parental control, the KFX50 comes with a keyed ignition, adjustable throttle stop, CVT transmission speed limiter and lanyard safety switch. The KFX90 features a keyed ignition switch and throttle limiting screw.
First displayed in May at the National Rifle Association’s 2006 Annual Members Meeting, the Brute Force 750 4x4i NRA OUTDOORS Special Edition is based on the standard Brute Force 750 4x4i but features the Advantage MAX-I HD camouflage pattern on the bodywork and additional camouflage on the front guard, front and rear racks and all four wheels.
Other “Summer Release” ATVs to be expected in dealer showrooms for the coming year include the KFX700 ($6,499), Bayou 250 ($2,999), Brute Force 650 4×4 ($7,099), Brute Force 650 4x4i ($7,099), Brute Force 750 4x4i ($7,599), Prairie 360 ($4,599) and Prairie 360 4×4 ($5,199).
Kawasaki also revealed a returning seven-model Mule utility vehicle line-up: the Mule 600 ($5,899), Mule 610 4×4 ($6,699), Mule 3000 ($7,499), Mule 3010 4×4 ($8,799), Mule 3010 Trans4x4 ($9,599), Mule 3010 4×4 Diesel ($9,999) and Mule 3010 Trans4x4 Diesel ($10,799).
