BMW Motorcycles’ worldwide sales increase about 20 percent in July

BMW Motorcycles reported an increase in worldwide new unit sales of 19.7 percent in July. The company sold 10,679 units compared to 8,921 the previous year, according to a company press release.

The considerable increase, however, was not enough to make motorcycle year-to-date sales positive. BMW has sold 66,612 units in January-July, but during the same prior year period, the company sold 68,151 units, a 2.3 percent decrease. Numbers for North America were not available.

BMW Group’s global sales were up 2.2 percent in July. Its cars rose to 106,483 units compared to 104,168 in July 2007.
