OEM recalls about 530 snowmobiles

Polaris Industries voluntarily recalled model year 2009 Widetrak snowmobiles with the engine block or battery heaters directly installed, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

In cooperation with the CPSC, Polaris recalled about 530 snowmobiles because the CPSC said the insulation of the electrical cord for the engine and battery heaters can fail during cold temperatures, posing an electric shock hazard to consumers. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

The model number S09PU7ES is printed on the right side of the tunnel below the seat. This recall also involves Polaris accessory engine block heaters and battery heaters, which were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from January 2008-January 2009 for $70-$80. The Widetrak snowmobiles were sold from April 2008-February 2009 for about $8,400.
