Cobra Engineering announces sales staff changes

Cobra Engineering has announced a staffing change in its sales department as Sales Manager Blaine Birchfield is retiring.

Replacing Birchfield will be Garrett Kai, formerly of the American Suzuki Motor Corp.

“Blaine has been with Cobra for more than 13 years, and in the motorcycle industry for his entire working life,” Tim McCool, president of Cobra Engineering, said in a press release. “Though he has wanted to retire for some time, he waited until we found the right guy to continue his stewardship,” added McCoo,l referring to Kai.

Birchfield began his career in motorcycling at a Harley dealership in Orlando, Fla., during the late 1950s, before moving on to assignments at Yamaha, Goodyear Tires, Kawasaki, Malcolm Smith and as an independent manufacturer’s rep.

Kai worked the past nine years with American Suzuki, most recently in the PR group. He also has worked at Lockhart Phillips, a motorcycle parts distributor, as well as Motorcyclist magazine.

“We think Garrett will add a lot to the Cobra team,” said McCool. “His love of riding, and passion for the industry will be an asset to the company as he moves forward.”
