Laconia Bike Week was safest in years

With one fatality during Laconia Motorcycle Week, police said it was the safest in recent years, according to a report in The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H.

A Michigan biker was killed on Route 28 in Pittsfield this year, while three were killed the year before, and 10 were killed in 2006.

State and local police told the newspaper that aggressive enforcement activity and partnership among several agencies helped keep fatalities down. State troopers made 68 DWI arrests throughout the week, an increase over previous years.
