Brammo unveils specs of Empulse and Empulse R

Brammo Inc. has revealed details about its Empulse and Empulse R electric sport bikes.

A drivetrain designed and built for production electric motorcycles will be featured on both models. It includes a water-cooled permanent magnet AC motor, IET 6-speed gearbox and Brammo’s unique BPM 15/90 battery modules. The drivetrain package will allow both models to have rapid off-the-line acceleration, sustained high speed and industry-leading range. The Empulse models will also have a J1772 Level II on-board charging system that will allow riders to take advantage of charging stations installed by cities anywhere. Both models can be recharged in 3 ½ hours, and every 10 minutes of casual charging brings an extra 5 miles of range.

“The Empulse and Empulse R are a milestone for Brammo and the new electric benchmark for the motorcycling industry. I know when I reveal the bikes on May 8, people are going to be blown away by the integrity of the design and the focused presence this motorcycle commands,” Brammo CEO Craig Bramscher said. “When we first revealed the Empulse prototype, our customers had some very clear feedback for us, and that feedback has inspired much of what you will see in the production version.”

Both the Empulse and Empulse R will be revealed in Los Angeles on May 8. The event, which will also feature information from Brammo’s development riders, will be webcast live to all pre-order customers.
