PWIA starts Safe Rider campaign

As boating season kicks off, more than 1 million PWC will take to the water in the U.S. The Personal Watercraft Industry Association (PWIA) launched its Summer Safe Rider campaign with safety demonstration events at Lake Lanier, Ga., as well as a social media awareness campaign focused on safety tips and a “safe rider” pledge. The goal is for 100,000 PWC riders of all ages to sign the pledge by July 4.

The U.S. Coast Guard, industry leaders, elected officials and environmental organizations joined the PWIA for the event at Port Royale Marina. The event included on-water, follow-the-leader safety demonstrations by PWC industry experts, a presentation about national PWIA programs and initiatives and information about summer safety and PWC enjoyment.

Founded in 1987, PWIA was created to promote the safe, responsible and enjoyable operation of personal watercraft. As advocates for PWC manufacturers, including Yamaha, Kawaski and BRP, the organization provides a unified voice for the industry and represents the interests of personal watercraft manufacturers in legislative and regulatory concerns.
