U.K. bike sales expected to rise

The U.K.’s Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) has announced projected figures for new registrations in 2015.

“We estimate around 109,990 units will be sold during 2015, which is a similar growth rate to the one we enjoyed in 2014 — around 10 percent,” said Steve Kenward, CEO of the MCIA. “With Motorcycle Live [consumer show] attendance up 10 percent too, and growth every single month during 2014, we feel confident we have turned a corner.

“We see the long-term trend for motorcycle use to rise steadily. The latest update to Department for Transport figures shows that the number of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds on the road is at its highest for five years, with twice as many on the road as there were in 1994, which would indicate motorcycles are becoming increasingly important as a mode of commuter transport.”
