10 bloody great Halloween events

Dealers came up with some stellar Halloween event ideas once again this year. We uncovered some especially effective promotions that we’re sharing with you below. In fact, we got into the spirit here at PSB headquarters. But enough about us. Check out how these dealerships, in no particular order, add an element of fun to the business…

1. Schiets Motorsports (Fremont, Ohio) offered a drawing for Haunted Hydro Dark Attraction Park tickets, a local haunted attraction. To win a ticket, visit the dealership, fill out an entry form and drop it a pumpkin. Forms at the parts counter. Winners’ names posted on Facebook. $2 discount on tickets also available anytime at the store.

2. Greeley Harley-Davidson (Greeley, Colo.) sponsored HOGtoberfest on Oct. 13 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Free brats and kraut, in addition to free beer from local microbrew Greely Brewing Company. HARLEYween and Chili Cook-Off on Oct. 27 from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Special prize for cutest children’s costume.

3. Wildhorse Harley-Davidson (Bend, Ore.) Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 27. Decorate the car and bring the kids. Bouncy house from 1-5 p.m., BBQ at 5:30, followed by trunk or treating. Customers drive their cars to the lot, and kids pick their treats out of the trunk.

4. Surdyke Harley-Davidson (Festus, Mo.) Halloween Costume Ride & Parade, Oct. 27, 4-6 p.m., Costume Contest and Chili Cook-off. Ride goes down Main St. and ends at Crystal City Underground Caves for live music and drink specials, bonfire party and bike burn.

5. J&P Cycles. Resurrect Your Ride. Trick out your bike with these treats: Chrome Hand Bone Mirrors; Sick Boy Skull Fitted Hat; Kuryakyn Zombie Shift Arm Cover; Chrome Flaming Skull Horn Cover.

6. Biker Bob’s Harley-Davidson Motown (Taylor, Mich.). Trick or Treat Costume Contest. Top five costumes win prizes. Trick or treat in every department. Ghoulish food and scary tunes.

7. Wild-Prairie Harley-Davidson Monster Mash and Graveyard Smash. (Eden Prairie, Minn.). Free pancake breakfast, hot apple cider, trick or treat in every department for costumed youngster, plus a free photo of them on a motorcycle. Free pumpkins while supplies last. Pinstriping for bikes and/or pumpkins from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

8. Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson (Riverside, Calif.) Death Row Dogz Presents Dogtoberfest 2012. Benefit for Riverside Department of Animal Services. Pet costume contest; most original; best duo (owner & pet); most patriotic; best biker dog.

9. Dell’s Powersports (Blue Springs, Mo.). Oct. 31, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Every customer in costume receives a free can of Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish. Every customer gets to draw for discount coupons, including a free $50 store gift certificate.

10. Duc Pond Motorsports (Winchester, Va.) Raffle and Halloween Party. Oct. 31, starts at noon. Ducati 1098R Troy Bayliss Special Edition charity raffle. Tickets purchased in advance or same day. Drawing is at the party. Arrive in costume to receive a free Carlos Checa World Champion T-shirt. Free food and drink.
