PWC sales decline in March

Sales of all powerboats increased in March, but PWC sales dropped 8 percent for the month compared to 2011, according to the latest figures from the Info-Link Technologies Bellwether Report.

Among the Bellwether states, which represent roughly half of the U.S. boat market, geographically dispersed, PWC sales have been declining roughly 10 percent each month, year-over-year. Though sales have continued to worsen, the degree of decline has slowed to around 8 percent in March compared to the same period of last year.

The data for all states has been updated through December, with total PWC sales for all U.S. states dropping around 14 percent consistently for the past 5 months.

PWC sales, which made up roughly one-third of all fiberglass boat sales in 2011, have continued to drop in 2012, though the rate seems to be declining.
