Parsons acquires Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson

News release

Entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons today announced the acquisition of Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson in Southaven, Mississippi by YAM Worldwide, an organization owned by Parsons. The third power sports dealership in Parsons’ portfolio, Southern Thunder is Parsons’ first acquisition outside of Arizona. The deal also includes two popular alternative retail outlets, Graceland Harley-Davidson and Blues City Harley-Davidson, located in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bob Parsons, best known as the founder of GoDaddy.com, is no stranger to the motorcycle business. He is the CEO and founder of award-winning dealerships Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale and Go AZ Motorcycles. Under Parsons’ direction Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, purchased in January of 2012, has rocketed to a status as one of the top performing Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country.

Go AZ Motorcycles, which carries nine of the world’s top brands, is rated North America’s number one power sports dealership by PowerSports Business Magazine. Parsons is also the founder and CEO of Spooky Fast Customs which uses state-of-the-art technology and techniques to create customized motorcycle designs and fabrications.

“We are excited to introduce Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson into our family of dealerships,” said Parsons. “We have a real opportunity to leverage the seasonality of the Arizona and Mississippi markets and the talent at all three dealerships to deliver a world-class customer experience.”

Customer experience and community, two things which are part of the very fabric of all businesses owned by Parsons, are crucial to the dealership’s continued success. Riding enthusiasts can look forward to an expanded calendar of events, bike nights, rides and community focused rallies. Additionally, the dealership will add talent, inventory, and the latest technology and service equipment to move the already successful dealership forward in its ability to anticipate and exceed the needs of customers.

“We sell fun,” Parsons continued. “Harley-Davidson is a lifestyle brand and Southern Thunder will be a lifestyle dealership, similar to the Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale store, but with a high dose of Southern hospitality.”

Currently functioning in one of America’s nicest facilities as rated by the Harley-Davidson Retail Environment Group, Southern Thunder is a model for green building technology. The dealership is the second Harley-Davidson dealership in the country to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification and the eighth building of any type to achieve similar status in Mississippi.
