Pre-owned searches show UTVs rising

Side-by-side interest apparent on KBB.com searches

Kelley Blue Book data shows that side-by-sides were the only powersports segment to see increased interest in the third quarter on
KBB.com, compared to the second quarter.

Kelley Blue Book senior powersports analyst Lisa Pelissier provides PSB readers with a look at how interested in pre-owned ATVs fared during the July-September quarter:

“ATVs are not seeing a uniform drop or rise in interest. Interest appears to be more vehicle-driven. Only one manufacturer had all of its vehicles show improved interest in the third quarter: Polaris, which had three vehicles total in the two Top 10 lists for ATVs. In Q3, the range of model years represented on the Top 10 list for larger ATVs (over 400cc) is from 2004-08, a more current range than has appeared in the past. In the second quarter, the oldest year in the Top 10 was a 2001 model and the most current, a 2007. The only manufacturer to show dramatic drops in KBB.com web hits was Suzuki, with both its models on the Top 10 list showing a hearty decline in interest.

“The utility vehicle category was the only vehicle type for Q3 2013 to show increased interest for all models in the Top 10 Most Researched list. Perhaps not coincidentally, the utility vehicles segment was one of the few categories that did not show an expansive increase in KBB.com web hits for Q2 2013. As usual, Polaris had the strongest showing, with the 2008 Ranger RZR again overshadowing every other vehicle.”
