SKULLY extends pre-order campaign

News Release

SKULLY [on Wednesday] announced that due to global demand, the company will extend its pre-order campaign for the highly-anticipated AR-1 motorcycle helmet on Indiegogo through October 9th, 2014. The record-breaking campaign resulted in SKULLY becoming the fastest company to reach $1 million on the Indiegogo crowdfunding site. SKULLY today also provided the first open AR-1 consumer experience as part of TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, allowing the public to see and demo the first vertically integrated smart HUD helmet. Until now, the AR-1 has only been accessible to beta users. SKULLY will make the helmet available to experience at other marquee events globally in the near future.

“Demand has been overwhelming and we are beyond excited to be able to give the public the first opportunity to get up close and personal with the AR-1 helmet,” said Marcus Weller, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of SKULLY. “Seeing the helmet in pictures and videos is one thing, but being able to try on the AR-1 and understanding exactly what it is capable of is an entirely different experience. We look forward to transporting Disrupt attendees into the future of motorcycle helmets.”

The SKULLY AR-1 helmet features a revolutionary Heads Up Display (HUD) system that displays information approximately 10 feet in front of the rider, a 180-degree rearview camera, turn-by-turn GPS navigation, smartphone pairing and voice control, resulting in the world’s smartest motorcycle helmet. As part of the TechCrunch Disrupt event, American Racing Driver Collete Davis will join SKULLY to address the importance of safety.

“Safety has and always will be the number one priority and focus for SKULLY,” said Mitchell Weller, Co-Founder and Vice President, Business Operations, SKULLY. “While our innovation will certainly result in a more enjoyable riding experience, our ultimate goal is to make motorcycle riding safer for everyone.”

SKULLY’s story began in 2011 when Founder Marcus Weller was involved in a motorcycle crash. His desire to make riding safer ultimately resulted in the creation of the AR-1. The award-winning helmet was introduced in late 2013 to worldwide acclaim, resulting in more than 100,000 beta tester applications. SKULLY then launched a pre-order campaign in August 2014 that saw the company reach its $250,000 fundraising goal in just eight minutes. The Indiegogo campaign continued to shatter records as consumers signed on to be the first to own a SKULLY helmet.

The SKULLY AR-1 helmet is scheduled for release in May 2015.
