Kendon trailer gets new ownership with private equity group

Kendon, the originator of the Stand-Up trailer concept, is standing tall in the new year with new private equity ownership and plenty of new products in the works.

“Kendon is pleased to announce that it has established a funding source,” said Frank Esposito, who remains as company president. “This will allow the brand to react to an ever-increasing demand for Kendon Stand-Up Trailers and accessories. Back in 1991 when Tina and Ken [Thurm] started the company, their vision was to build the best motorcycle trailer on the market. Although Tina will be leaving to pursue other personal and professional interests, I am very pleased that Ken will continue to consult with us on product design and manufacturing.”

News of a revitalized Kendon is already resonating with the powersports industry.

“We are very pleased to hear this exciting news from Kendon,” said Brian Berney, vice president Global Supply Chain Group for Tucker Rocky/Biker’s Choice. “Tucker Rocky has been the distributor for Kendon products for more than 20 years and we have enjoyed the relationship, and providing their unique and market leading products to our dealers.

“We are looking forward to seeing the benefits of their newly expanded capabilities and investments. I’m sure the results will be very beneficial to our dealers, not just in terms of increased service, but additional innovative new products in the future. This is good news indeed.”

“Through the efforts of many, we are well poised to respond to the ever-increasing demand from our customers,” Esposito added. “This marks my seventh year with Kendon and I can say with utmost confidence that there is a very bright future Kendon in 2015.”
