Performance company unveils YXZ1000R exhaust

Akrapovic has added another category to its growing range of exhaust systems as the Slovenian specialist makes its foray into the world of four-wheel pure-sport off-road vehicles. The company has launched a system for the pure sport Yamaha YXZ1000R.

The Evolution Line (Titanium) has been designed to fit into the limited space provided by the compact design of the YXZ1000R. The power and torque levels are both increased by 5.5 hp (m) at 8,850 rpm and 5.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm, respectively, all targeted to take the ultra-compact three-cylinder layout 998cc DOHC engine to new levels of performance and exhilaration, making the side-by-side more responsive and invigorating for the senses.

The high-grade, lightweight titanium construction sees the exhaust weight reduced by 5.1 kg, equivalent to a stunning 50.5 percent savings over the stock system, and the reduction adds to maneuverability and handling.

To comply with North American off-road regulations, a system with a spark arrester is available for the U.S. market. The system comes with easy-to-follow fitting instructions, and, although remapping the ECU is not compulsory, it is recommended to get the most from the system and the YXZ1000R.

The Akrapovic sound engineers have also made sure the aural enjoyment is increased by giving the system a louder, deeper, fuller and distinctive Akrapovic tone, with a sporty, racing sound as the revs rise.

The attention to detail is obvious from the perfect finish and the addition of a handcrafted carbon-fiber end-cap, and the specialist engineers used their experience from developing road (performance) and off-road (durability) exhaust systems to create a system that delivers the best of both.
