INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The restaurant scene in convention cities changes faster than OEMs can crank out new models in a buyer’s market. We’ve been coming here for the Dealer Expo for five years now and we’ve certainly developed our favorites. In fact, we’ve listed them on the next page. At the same time, however, we like to keep tabs on the new spots that have opened since our last visit.
Here, then, are the Powersports Business 5 Hot New Spots to dine in Indianapolis.
Scholars Inn: The dramatic circular décor brings an East Coast setting to the Midwest. Stop for a creative sandwich, succulent steak or American fare and stay for the showpiece desserts too large for one and too good to share. Reservations advised. Lunch and dinner Tues.– Sat., Sun. Brunch. 725 Mass. Ave., (317) 536-0707, Major Credit Cards. $$-$$$
Chops, An American Steakhouse: Locally owned steak house knows how to bout it out with the big boys. Steaks, chops, seafood and amazing side salads. Ask about the lobster special. Reservations advised. Dinner Mon.-Sat. 8505 Keystone Crossing Blvd., (317) 803-2178. Major credit cards. $$$
Tavola Di Tosa: Experience fine Italian dining off the beaten path in funky Broad Ripple Village. Reservations recommended. Lunch Tues.-Sat.; Dinner Mon.–Sat. 6523 Ferguson St. (317) 202-0240; fax (317) 202-0242. Major Credit Cards. $$$
The Bosphorus: Three minutes from the heart of Downtown, but a world away with its authentic Turkish cuisine. The Iskender, a heaping platter of doner kebob kissed with tomato sauce, is not to be missed. Call for reservations and ask if they’ve gotten their liquor license. If not, stop by a wine store and select your choice to take with you. It’s fun. Lunch and dinner Tue.-Sun.; 935 S. East St. (across from entrance to Eli Lilly), (317) 974-1770. Major Credit Cards. $$
Oakleys Bistro: A neighborhood bistro that takes a novel approach to American cuisine presenting steaks, seafood and pasta in a most delicious way. Reservations advised. Lunch and dinner, Tues.-Sat. 1464 W. 86th St.; (317) 824-1231. Major credit cards. $$$.
