OEMs offer consumer incentives on PWC sales

The months of April, May, and June are some of the hottest sales days for personal watercraft dealers, and to help get things moving all of the major PWC manufacturers are offering sales incentives, including financing promotions, accessory offers, and many no money down incentives.
Of all the programs, perhaps Honda’s sports the longest term. With approved credit, buyers of both 2002 and 2003 models are eligible for no money down, no payments for three months, and a fixed 6.9% APR for up to 60 months.
Those with less stellar credit histories can still get the 6.9% APR offer for 12, 24, 36, or 48-month terms. Or, buyers who opt for the Honda card can receive low monthly payments for 24 months with no money down. Payments will be at 11.99% APR for the first 24 months, rising to the standard APR thereafter. Minimum payments will be based on 1.5% of the original price for the first 24 months, rising to 2.5% for the remainder of the term. Both programs expire June 30.
Yamaha also is currently touting its Yamaha credit card program. Buyers of new model WaveRunners are offered a no money down, $39 a month promotion with an interest rate of 3.9% that extends until March 2004. After the introductory period, the account will revert to a normal 17.9% interest rate.
As an added incentive to buy the hot new models, a rate of 14.9% will apply to boats including the GP1300R, and FX-140.
Kawasaki’s “Supercharged Deals” program offers customers a variety of zero-down options on select new watercraft, including a choice of 2.9% financing for 24 months, 3.9% financing for 36 months, or zero payments and zero interest until January 2004.
In addition, a Good Times Customer Cash promotion that ended May 31 offered buyers from $500 to $1000 (depending upon model) applied to their purchase, in accessories, or as cash back at the time of sale.
Polaris is including all models and years of new Polaris watercraft (with the exception of the Octane) in a zero interest, zero-down, and zero payments until 2004 credit card promotion. The catch? Buyers are required to purchase either $500 of Polaris accessories or a Polaristar extended service contract, although the price also includes a Polaris Wavepak which includes a PFD, registration kit, beach towel, visor, cell phone case, lanyard, and a pair of dock lines and tie-downs along with several money-saving coupons.
The Polaris program runs until July 7, 2003.
Sea-Doo was offering a one-year B.E.S.T. extended service contract to buyers of the company’s supercharged four-stroke models. The promotion ended April 30, 2003.
