Knockoff Is Knocked Out at EICMA

At least one Chinese exhibitor had an unpleasant surprise at the EICMA show in Italy last week when he tried to show an unauthorized, nearly exact replica of another manufacturer’s machine. The aggrieved manufacturer complained to EICMA officials, who immediately banned the offending model from the show floor.
Although EICMA officials understandably weren’t eager to talk about the situation because of the legal implications, one EICMA representative did say that the offending machine was taken off the floor on Thursday.
The official told Powersports Business that a visiting manufacturer was surprised to see the copy of his machine being shown by a Chinese exhibitor, although the machine didn’t carry the manufacturer’s logo or identification.
Attorneys from both the parties are discussing the issue.
