Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) said it plans to invest $6.05 million (Euro 5 million) in new equipment for machining and assembly at Austrian engine subsidiary BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co. KG
Headquartered in the northern Austrian town of Gunskirchen, BRP-Rotax develops and produces two- and four-stroke engines for Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft and sport boats, Bombardier ATV quads, Rotax ultralight and light aircraft engines as well as for karts and Aprilia and BMW motorcycles. In the past 50 years, the company has developed over 350 engine models and has produced more than 5 million engines. It expects to produce about 225,000 engines this year.
BRP-Rotax currently employs over 1,000 people and is the largest company in the Wels-Land district. The most recent investment is expected to create 50 additional jobs.
“This investment further increases our product development as well as our manufacturing capacity,” said Yves Leduc, vice president and general manager, BRP-Rotax GmbH & Co. KG. “It also recognizes our employees’ dedication and flexibility as well as their ability to leverage technologies.”
