Kawasaki tops in parts sales for work

Body parts and windshields high in utility UTV part sales

Parts sold with both new and pre-owned units during 2014 were analyzed in three different UTV market segments: multi-purpose, sport and work. The study, conducted by CDK Global staffers Aaron Carver, Jim Bradley, Ian Reese, Eric Johnson and Hal Ethington, shows that Kawasaki is king when it comes to work parts sales that are purchased with the sale of a new or pre-owned work UTV, and Polaris holds the top 10 parts for the multi-purpose and sport categories.

Polaris dealers sold more than 6,000 Polaris Ranger XP 900 Lock & Ride Pro-Fit Sport Roofs in 2014 with sales of new and pre-owned units.

The transactions were part of 124,952 new and pre-owned UTVs sold at 1,156 dealerships.

Part numbers were ranked by total revenue produced, and the top 10 parts in each market segment are listed above. Total parts revenue is commensurate with the number of units sold in that segment.

All parts found in these top 10 listings fall into just four types: body, windshields, winches, heaters and stereos. Stereos are found only in the sport units, and the lone heater part number appears in the multi-purpose category. Work units show only body parts and windshields among their top 10 part numbers.

All parts in the top 10 for the work group are supplied by Kawasaki. All top 10 parts for both multi-purpose and sport units are supplied by Polaris. No aftermarket parts are found in this top 10 listing for these three market segments.
