Distributor expands operations

Tucker Rocky growing in size, head count in Fla., Pa.

As part of an ongoing initiative to increase its service commitment to powersports dealers and consumers, Tucker Rocky/Biker’s Choice has expanded the size of its Jacksonville, Fla., distribution center by 80,000 square feet and invested more than $3 million to equip it with a state-of-the-art high-density pick module for faster order fulfillment. The distribution center expansion created 20 new jobs.

“We’re extremely excited about the grand reopening of our Jacksonville distribution center. Not only does the project contribute to job growth within Florida, but, the new facility provides dealers in the Southeast with double the number of brands previously available in their one-day shipping zone,” said Dan Courtney, president of Tucker Rocky/Biker’s Choice.

A grand reopening celebration will be held on Friday, Feb. 13 from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with a barbecue lunch served 12:30-1:30 p.m. Tours of the new distribution center will be given from 1:30-3 p.m. The center is located at 8700 Jesse B Smith Ct., Jacksonville, FL 32219.

Pennsylvania operations to double in size

Also, Tucker Rocky/Biker’s Choice is nearly doubling the size of its Olyphant, Pa., distribution center and equipping it with a high-density pick module for faster order fulfillment.

The company will provide next-day ground delivery of motorcycle and ATV/UTV aftermarket parts, accessories and apparel from a new distribution center in Lackawanna County. The project is expected to create 28 new jobs over the next three years.

Tucker Rocky/Biker’s Choice has leased 282,539 square feet in the 365,114-square-foot industrial building located at 1200 East Lackawanna Avenue in the Mid Valley Industrial Park in Olyphant Borough. The building was developed and is owned by Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services. The company is relocating from a smaller industrial building in the Valley View Business Park in Jessup, where it employs 37 people who will transition to the new facility.

“We’re extremely excited about our new Olyphant distribution center. Not only will the project contribute to job growth within Pennsylvania, but when the new facility opens, it will be the largest in our network, providing powersports dealers in the Northeast with double the number of brands previously available in their one-day shipping zone,” Courtney added.

The lease was coordinated by Mericle vice president Bob Besecker, and Tucker Rocky was represented by Del Markward, managing director of real estate brokerage firm Colliers International’s Allentown, Pa., office.

“Tucker Rocky is in a growth phase and needs to be in a larger space,” Besecker said. “Fortunately, our building gives the company exactly what it wants and is just a few miles from its existing facility. The timing was critical. Our construction team fast tracked improvements to the space to meet the company’s exact requirements.”

Besecker thanked Olyphant Borough and The Scranton Plan of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce for their assistance with the project.
