Triumph dealer is No. 1 seller for eighth year in a row in U.S.

Southern California Motorcycles in Brea has been named the No. 1 Triumph dealership in the North America for the eighth year in a row. Triumph Motorcycles also announced that Southern California Motorcycles is the highest selling dealer in the history of Triumph Motorcycles in North America, having sold more than 200 Triumph motorcycles in 2014.

Owner Tom Hicks will provide his employees with a gold star stamped with “2014” to wear on their employee jackets, as is company tradition.

Southern California Motorcycles was the 2007 Ducati Dealer of the Year for North America, and the No. 1 Triumph dealer for North America in 2001 and from 2007 through 2014.

The dealership’s lineup includes Triumph, Ducati, Suzuki, Victory, Slingshot and Royal Enfield.

Having just lost a sale to these folks who, against DMW regulations, delivered a new Triumph to a buyer around 500 miles away (and in my backyard) at a price well below invoice, I’m not quite as impressed with their #1 volume status. When this distinction is “bought” by drastically reducing profits and skirting regulations, the distinction as “No. 1 Triumph dealer” seems a little empty.

  2. Despite “orderly marketing” provisions in dealer franchise agreements, you really can’t be limited to whom you sell to as long as provide the same levels of support that you do to the local customers. It should not just be a vessel to unload excess inventory.

    it is the dealers choice to sell a product at the price that they see fit. If they “choose” to loose money, that is their prerogative and you should be grateful that you did not have to lose that money.
